Scientists identified three glucan modification enzymes that function to deliver glucan from the cell to the extracellular matrix. Biodegradable Scaffold Fabricated of Electrospun Albumin Fibers: Mechanical and Biological Characterization
Scientists presented a fibrous scaffold comprised solely of albumin. The scaffold was fabricated using the electrospinning method, and resulted in micro-scale fibers that demonstrated mechanical properties similar to those of elastin fibers, a common component of connective tissue extracellular matrix. Professor Receives NIH Grant to Study Collagen Peptides as a Cancer Treatment Delivery Method
Katarzyna Slowinska, an associate professor of chemistry at California State University, Long Beach, has received a four-year, $433,500 grant from the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) National Institute of General Medical Sciences to pursue using short strands of amino acids called peptides to serve as drug nanocarriers.
